With the growing popularity and hazards due to changing sand conditions at the Inverloch beach, Mr Alan Bolton and Mr Glen Hibberd realised the need for a Life Saving Club at Inverloch.

They called for a public meeting which was held February 1998 to discuss the need for a patrolled beach. The popularity of the beach and changing conditions was the catalyst in gaining wide spread support from the general community.

Volunteers were requested to help form the club and thus, Inverloch Surf Life Saving Club was established.

The augural General Meeting occurred on 9 August 1998.
