Winter Fitness

by Nick Leman

As a lifesaver, winter may seem a little boring....no sun and not much time at the beach. Winter to me is a time to get fit, get super healthy and plan for a great summer.

The culture we are building towards at the Inverloch SLSC is one where we are all leading a healthy, active and enjoyable lifestyle. This involves regular exercise (even over winter).

Winter is the time to get down to your local pool and start doing a few laps, or rug up in your tights and do a few laps of the park. Even get in front of the mirror and do a few sit ups in your speedos. What ever motivates you.

What motivates me is the thought of summer. Winter for me is a time to knuckle down and get as fit as I possibly can. When summer does come around all your hard work will blossum as you will have lots of sun surfing and lifesaving.

Some great events to train for are our own fun run and swim classic. Here are the dates:
Surf and Sand Fun Run / Walk - Sunday 3rd of Jan, 8am start
Anderson Inlet 1.2km Swim Classic - Tuesday Jan 26th (Aust Day) 7.30am start

Happy training!
